The Mind Your Health Podcast is about all things Gut Health! As a healthcare practitioner with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Connie Cheung focuses on a holistic approach integrating her educational background in Psychology, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Functional Medicine, and Yoga. She started the Mind Your Health Podcast to help as many people as possible get rid of pesky gut symptoms so that they can look and feel their best while living their fullest lives. Dr. Connie has struggled and lived with life threatening autoimmune conditions, and she’s personally experienced the limitations in our current medical and holistic healthcare systems. She finds that our current health and wellness systems are broken due to their over-emphasis on treating only the parts and pieces of the puzzle, rather than considering the WHOLE body. It’s her mission in life to help those suffering from chronic symptoms or illnesses by helping them get to the TRUE root cause, as opposed to offering surface level approaches that fail to address the whole body. Gut health is the foundation for optimal health. In the Mind Your Health Podcast, Dr. Connie shares her knowledge and personal EXPERIENCE, while providing simple and practical solutions that are not only scientifically based, but timeless and effective which will help deliver long-term vitality and health from the inside-out. Her unique perspective in putting together both Eastern and Western medical concepts in an easy-to-follow framework that you can easily APPLY in your own life will be life changing, giving you confidence in yourself to live your healthiest life. Your mind will be blown at how easy it is to heal your own body when you finally activate your GUT and BRAIN to work together in synergy to have a positive effect on your whole body. You’ll learn that your WHOLE body is bigger than the sum of its parts.

Functional Medicine and your Health

The premise of "healthcare" is all wrong.  It's not healthcare, its really sick care.  I believe if we understand what it is, we can better utilize the medical services with real perspective

Oct 16, 2017

Theory and knowledge are great, but when it comes to disease and health, our medical training tends to make disease management the goal and often the path to optimal health and wellness is overlooked.

This is a deep seeded problem in the medical system today.

My experience in navigating my life as a patient taught me just how much physicians don't know everything.  They know disease management, not health management.

The fundamental flaw in medical system today is that it tends to be highly specific in focusing on the "disease" than what the root "cause" of the disease is.

So creating health is largely dependent on our lifestyle and it all begins with our mindset.

I share what the path to creating health looks like and you'll find that its so simple.

Living with a chronic condition like Lupus can give you some perspective.  As a Clinician and a Patient for over 19 years, I've learned that we still have a limited understanding of our human biology.

The interconnections of complex systems in our body creates lots of variables that are highly individual for each patient.

I know for sure that knowledge of a disease is not enough to cure or heal patients.  It's with compassion, empathy, and applied knowledge coupled with treating the "patient" is key in delivering exceptional healing experience.

Because healing is a journey for most of us with chronic conditions.  There is no black and white answer.

In this podcast, I share my personal experiences and thoughts on what's worked, what hasn't, and insights on what's required for healing to take place.

And yes, healing and reversing disease is absolutely possible.  Enjoy!
