Mind Your Health Podcast with Dr. Connie Cheung

The Mind Your Health Podcast is about all things Gut Health! As a healthcare practitioner with over 25 years of experience, Dr. Connie Cheung focuses on a holistic approach integrating her educational background in Psychology, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Functional Medicine, and Yoga. She started the Mind Your Health Podcast to help as many people as possible get rid of pesky gut symptoms so that they can look and feel their best while living their fullest lives. Dr. Connie has struggled and lived with life threatening autoimmune conditions, and she’s personally experienced the limitations in our current medical and holistic healthcare systems. She finds that our current health and wellness systems are broken due to their over-emphasis on treating only the parts and pieces of the puzzle, rather than considering the WHOLE body. It’s her mission in life to help those suffering from chronic symptoms or illnesses by helping them get to the TRUE root cause, as opposed to offering surface level approaches that fail to address the whole body. Gut health is the foundation for optimal health. In the Mind Your Health Podcast, Dr. Connie shares her knowledge and personal EXPERIENCE, while providing simple and practical solutions that are not only scientifically based, but timeless and effective which will help deliver long-term vitality and health from the inside-out. Her unique perspective in putting together both Eastern and Western medical concepts in an easy-to-follow framework that you can easily APPLY in your own life will be life changing, giving you confidence in yourself to live your healthiest life. Your mind will be blown at how easy it is to heal your own body when you finally activate your GUT and BRAIN to work together in synergy to have a positive effect on your whole body. You’ll learn that your WHOLE body is bigger than the sum of its parts.

Both women and men can experience a belly pooch or belly bulge, along with gut issues such as bloating, gas, constipation, and digestive discomfort. So what do most do? Try to get rid of it with typical weight loss tactics, including dieting and exercising.
But if you have a belly pooch and also struggle with pain (especially low back pain), gut issues, and poor posture, stability, and core strength, the truth is that you might have diastasis recti.

Diastasis recti is when the 6-pack muscles separate from being stretched out, and can cause the belly to bulge out. 60-70% of pregnant women suffer from diastasis recti due to the stretching of the belly during pregnancy.

So if you have a belly pooch that refuses to go away no matter how much you've tried to diet and exercise, this episode is for you. Listen as Dr. Connie, a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in Women's Health, explains diastasis recti and what you can do to treat it.

In this episode of the Mind Your Health Show, you'll discover:
📌What diastasis recti is, and an easy way to determine if you have it
📌Causes and common symptoms of diastasis recti
📌How to treat diastasis recti and reverse the symptoms that come with it
📌More serious issues that can happen when diastasis recti goes untreated
📌How the pelvic floor plays a role in diastasis recti, and why most women are doing their Kegels wrong
📌The relationship between gut health and diastasis recti, and why changing your diet  alone won't get rid of your pooch
